Registered To Vote? Today Is The Last Day In Texas To Do So.
Every election year in Texas is a big deal. People can't stop talking about it, signs are up in people's yards all over the place, and it's turning into one of the more interesting and contentious races we've seen in quite some time.
In order to really be a part of it though, you have to vote. And if you want to vote, you have to be registered to do so.
That's what makes today so important because it's the last day you have to register. This race is expected to be a pretty close one, even with the sudden change in candidates on the Democratic side.
There are several things you need to be looking for, and I'll guide you in the right direction for all of it.
ARE YOU REGISTERED TO VOTE
If you aren't sure whether or not you're registered to vote, there is an easy way to check. If you go to this site on the Texas Secretary of State site, you'll be able to see if you're registered.
To check, you'll need basic information such as your name, date of birth, and county that you live in. If your current address varies from your drivers license, start with your drivers license address and see if it's listed there. If not, try your current address.
HOW TO REGISTER TO VOTE
If after checking your status it shows you aren't registered to vote, you need to hop over to the voter registration site ASAP and go through the steps to get registered.
You'll answer a couple of simple questions, then it'll pop up an application for you to fill out. Do that and submit it.
I NEED TO CHANGE MY ADDRESS
If you found that you were registered to vote, but in a different county that you currently live in, you can change your address. You'll go to the site you went to when you checked your status, and you'll need a few things to change it.
The things you'll need are your drivers license, social security number, and your Voter Unique Identifier Number which is actually listed on your info when you see if you were already registered to vote.
Plug those things into the site, update your info, then print off the confirmation form it shows you. This also has to be done by the end of today, October 7, 2024, or you'll have to go to your listed county in order to cast your vote.
