The ShamWow Guy Is Now Running for Congress in Texas

Over the years, we've seen a lot of surprising things in politics, both in the nation and in Texas. We've seen many celebrities run for office in their respective states, as well as the country, and WIN those elections.

Former athletes, actors, etc., have thrown their hat in the ring, and when Arnold Schwarzenegger became the Governor of California, it turned the political world upside down. Former WWE wrestler Jesse Ventura won an election to become the Governor of Minnesota, and many others won seats in their state or nationally after that.

A Surprise Entrant In The Texas Congressional Race

Now, it's the time for Texas to potentially place someone in office who got their start by showing up on your TV...but it's not some worldwide famous actor or actress. Well, ok, maybe it is, but not in the sense of what you may be thinking.

Remember those infomercials for the incredible 'ShamWow' back in the day? So many of those were sold from those infomercials, and the guy who was pitching them was so over-the-top and boisterous that you couldn't help but want one. His name is Offer Vince Shlomi, better known as Vince Offer, and he is now wanting to run for a seat in the Texas Congress.

What Does Offer Have To Offer

That's a really good question, honestly. Here's what we know. Offer is taking on an eight-term incumbent in Rep. John Carter, so it's already an uphill climb for him from that standpoint. A lot of it will hinge on what his platform is for his campaign.

Well...let's just say it's definitely a different platform than anyone else who's run for a seat before. He said he's running to "destroy wokeism" and "make America happy." That is easily the most interesting platform I've ever seen, so it remains to be seen if that is something Texas wants to get behind.

Will His Checkered Past Hurt Him

If the platform he's running on isn't something that affects him, Offer has had some legal issues in his past that could hurt him. Back in 2009, he was arrested for an alleged violent confrontation he had with a sex worker. The mugshots became famous as it appeared he was beaten pretty severely during the altercation.

So, will he be the one you decide on out of the 12 candidates expected to run? Time will tell.
