It's something we all say we want, then it comes along and we're just irritated in a sense. We want Amarillo to turn into a winter wonderland.

Well, I've got some news for ya, we may just get it this week. Personally, I would've rather had this kind of forecast hit on Christmas Day, but beggars can't be choosers I suppose.

WHEN IS IT SUPPOSED TO START?

Starting tomorrow, Wednesday, December 13th, the forecast is projecting rain all day long. All the models I've seen show it potentially starting just after midnight and then running all day long.

It's supposed to hang out in the 40s all day on Wednesday, so the snow shouldn't really kick in then, so make sure you've got the rain boots and umbrella handy.

RAIN ISN'T A WINTER WONDERLAND

Yes, we know. Be patient, because when you wake up Thursday, that's when you might see that snow starting to hit the ground. Temps will drop into the 30s all day Thursday, and the precipitation will continue to fall.

If you know anything about weather, you know that things freeze starting at 32 degrees, and we're going to have plenty of opportunity for that to happen Thursday.

SO HOW MUCH SNOW ARE WE TALKING ABOUT?

This is where it gets tricky. It seems everyone's model is a bit different when it comes to the amount of snow that could fall. Some projections say it could be around 1-4 inches of accumulation. That seems to be the lowest we could see.

Some projections though are saying we could accumulate anywhere between 10-20 inches. If I were you, I'd start planning for literally anything, because while we know some kind of precipitation is coming, we just don't know how much of what.
