Caprock High Promotes Allen to Lead Baseball Team
One thing Amarillo schools have always been good at is promoting within, especially when it comes to their athletic programs. A big reason as to why is because there is good continuity within the programs and coaches simply don't leave.
So when someone DOES move on, the chances of an assistant being promoted to the head gig is a very likely possibility. That's exactly what has now happened with the Caprock baseball team.

Who Is Leaving The Caprock Program
Trevor Cordova was the head coach of Caprock for nine years and had a very good run. Such a good run, that Tulia took notice and offered him a big time job.
Not only is he headed over there to become their head baseball coach, but Cordova will be their athletic director as well. A huge step up which has opened an opportunity for someone to succeed him here in Amarillo.

The New Head Coach Is
Enter opportunity for Taylor Allen. He has been with the Caprock baseball team for 11 years as an assistant coach, and now, he can add head coach to his resume as he will be taking over the program for the 2025-26 school year.
Allen spoke with Press Pass Sports and said:
“It’s always been a dream of mine. This is the goal and the whole reason I got into high school baseball. I’m a baseball guy through and through. I played in college a long time ago and I played with the (Amarillo) Dillas when they were in town, and Amarillo’s been my home ever since.”
More Than Just Baseball
Allen does more than just coach baseball for the school. He is also an assistant coach on the Caprock football team, but it's more than just coaching the game. He's all about coaching these young men about life.
According to the Caprock Facebook post, he will lead the program and build a culture based on discipline, integrity, sportsmanship, and heart.
