This Essential Oil Will Keep Spiders Out of Your Home this Winter
Peppermint Oil is a cheap and awesome investment. I use it on pretty much everything. I use it as a stress reliever on my skin. I spray my bedding and home with it as well.
*NOTE: The peppermint oil must be safe for skin use. There are essential oils that will harm skin and if consumed. Please do all research on any essential oils before applying to the skin or internally.
A natural and safe repellent for spiders is peppermint. Why do spiders hate peppermint oil? Spiders have a dislike for strong odors, they smell and taste with their legs. So spiders will avoid crawling through fragrant oils.
The peppermint oil acts as a fumigant and any spider that comes in contact with the oil will avoid the area. Therefore leaving your home spider-free without having to spray pesticide and killing off a bunch of spiders.
The mixture I use to spray my home with contains:
- 15 drops of Peppermint Oil
- 10 drops of Orange Oil (any Citrus Oil)
- 1/2 a teaspoon of Dish Soap
- Water (Enough to fill up the 32oz spray bottle)
Shake well and spray away. I spray along the baseboards and corners where spiders tend to create their webs. I also spray my bedding. I feel this keeps things fresh between sheet washings. I spray my carpets and rugs with the mixture. My closet and dark spaces. I also mop with the mixture in the kitchen.
You can find peppermint oil at United, Natural Grocers, or Fountain Of Health, etc.
