A bright, blue light, a flash and an explosion was witnessed by several people living in Cherokee, Spartanburg and Greenville counties in South Carolina around 1:45am February 14th, 2012.  With so many eye witnesses and so much video footage, it's making waves in the UFO community.

911 operators received several phone calls from distraught citizens frightened by the light that was followed by the explosion.

Communities take explosions pretty seriously, so fire fighters were dispatched, that's when they learned it was a meteorite that actually hit the ground and shook the small towns.

A meteorite is not uncommon, but the timing is.  Scientists predict them based on when the Earth will pass through the tail of a comment.  This particular instance was actually unpredictable by astronomers, making it pretty exciting.
