I'll start off by saying this. Being a parent is one of the coolest things on the planet. It's also one of the hardest things to do on the planet.

We have to take these tiny humans and help mold them into good citizens that are equipped with good manners, smarts, and whatever else we feel they need for life. There are great days and moments, as well as those that aren't so wonderful.

This is going to sound terrible, but we also have to become master liars at times. Little white lies of course. You know, like when your seven-year-old brings home a piece of art or drawing they created in class. Sure, it's not a Picasso piece by any stretch, but you want to make them FEEL like it is right?

In reality, it's probably one of the worst pieces of art you've ever seen in your life. You love your kids though and want to make them feel good, so you tell them exactly what they want to hear.

Those terrible drawings and paintings start to get better and better as time goes on and they begin to understand it. Some of those pieces turn into REALLY good works of art, and those pieces are now on display for everyone in Amarillo to see.

The Amarillo Museum of Art is hosting the Texas Panhandle Student Art Show through May 12, and on display are some of the best pieces from students in the Amarillo area for you to check out. There are also some incredible incentives at stake for the student's work as well.

Students will have the opportunity to display their senior portfolios for a shot at eligible scholarships.

As mentioned, the display will be up until May 12, and you can go see their work between the hours of 10 am to 5 pm on Fridays and Saturdays, and on Sundays from 12 pm to 5 pm. There will be a closing ceremony and awards handed out at 6:30 pm on May 12.

Congrats to all the students who have work being presented and good luck!
