Amarillo shoppers: Check your Marketside pasta — deadly recall
It's quite possible that 2025 goes down as the year of the recall in Texas. I typically pay relatively close attention to all the different items that get recalled, especially food and drink-type items. I don't want to subject my family to something that will make them sick, or worse yet, kill them.
This particular recall, though, is a bit of a different one, because it isn't AS cut and dried as most recalls. Normally, these are simple. XYZ product is being recalled, end of story. This one, however, is from a middleman, and that makes it a bit tougher to figure out exactly what needs to be recalled.

What Is Being Recalled
Let me try and break this down as simply as I can. It dates all the way back to March 2025, involving FreshRealm chicken fettuccine alfredo. The company then found the bacteria in some of the dishes using their linguine.
Never heard of FreshRealm? Of course not, because they don't sell directly to the public, and that's where the major issue is coming in. They are a supplier for grocery stores and other places, and the places that get product from FreshRealm then take it and turn it into their own repackaged prepared dishes.
Who In Amarillo Sells Food With FreshRealm Products
Based on the recall list so far, it appears that some pre-packaged prepared foods from Walmart would be it. Their "Marketside" line of foods is what you would be looking for, and of course, it's not ALL the Marketside items.
Two in particular made the list, and it falls right in line with what FreshRealm said they found the bacteria in. Marketside Linguine with Beef Meatballs & Marinara Sauce and Marketside Grilled Chicken Alfredo with Fettuccine, both the 12 oz. versions, were the two things recalled. If you recently purchased one of these, throw it away...immediately.
A Deadly Recall
Normally, you'll have one agency that works on something like this. Well, this particular recall has the FDA, CDC, and the Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service working on it. It's that serious.
Six people have already died from listeria, and 25 others have been hospitalized. The worst part? There's no end in sight, according to these agencies, as many others could end up in the same spot.
