West Plains High School Names New Principal After Gomez Exit
Shortly after the school year ended in Amarillo, it was announced that Eric Gomez was leaving his post as Principal of West Plains High School. Gomez was the only Principal in the history of the school, as he was the one who helped open it.
That left West Plains in a position they've never been in before...having to find the next leader for the school. It was something they immediately got to work on, and now, they can say they've found their next leader.

West Plains Announces New Principal
The new Principal of West Plains High School is no stranger to the school and area. Adam Kerns has been a part of Canyon ISD, and more specifically, the West Plains feeder pattern, for the last 10 years. He is very well-versed in the West Plains community and will hit the ground running.
Kerns was most recently the Principal of Hillside Elementary, where he had spent the last six years, seeing an entire class through the school. Prior to that, he was an Assistant Principal at Westover Park Junior High, now known as West Plains Junior High.
What Did Kerns Have To Say?
In a press release, Kerns mentioned the tradition West Plains has built over the last four years. He said,
"The Wolfpack is more than a mascot - it is a commitment to one another, a standard of excellence, and a sense of belonging."
He praised the students, staff, and parents for creating that environment.
Kerns is planning on sticking around for a while. He's got two kids, 13 and 9, who will soon be going to school with their dad. That alone will serve as motivation for him to be there for the long run. Hopefully Levi and Luke can stay out of the principal's office when they get to high school. Welcome, Principal Kerns!
