There's nothing like College Football Saturday, and here in the the Lone Star state there certainly was plenty of excitement and upsets in the works, The first big game of the day saw the Texas Longhorns go into the Cotton Bowl to take on Oklahoma in the Red River Shootout. While they started out strong Oklahoma finished with a game winning Touch Down. Texas A&M ended up upsetting Alabama at Kyle Field which will no doubt knock the Tide out of first in the rankings and the Horned Frogs took care of business at Jones AT&T stadium in Lubbock as well. Bears fans... I didn't forget you they got a win too.

Just a few miles down the road in Canyon, The West Texas Buffs had a challenge of their own, Angelo State was coming into town as a heavy favorite to win on homecoming night and any good fan will tell you losing on homecoming isn't exciting at all. Well let's just say things didn't exactly play out for the Rams Saturday Night during their trip to Canyon.

1st Quarter

WT started off the first quarter with a three and out turning the ball over to Angelo State who had to settle with a field goal for it's first points on the board. The Buffs came back two plays later with blocking an Angelo State Punt with Noah Bogardus 38 yard touch down, taking the lead and front that point not looking back.

2nd Quarter

The Buffs went on a 12 play 55 yard drive in the 2nd Quarter pushing the lead to 14-3 with Nick Gerber finding Noah Bogardus with a final 7 yard pass into the end zone. A field goal before the half had the Buffs up by 17 at the half.

3rd Quarter

Rams come out of the locker room swinging as WT kicks off. They return for 49 yards and with a defensive holding penalty, they were able to keep the drive going for a touchdown but missed the extra point bringing the WT lead to 17-9. But the Buffs had the answer with 8 minutes left in the quarter as Jarrod Compton made a 13 yard play for the end zone adding 7 more the board going into the 4th with a 24-9

4th Quarter

The big play in the 4th for the Buffaloes came with an interception that Ty Dillon was able to take 60 yards to the house bringing the score up 31-9. The Rams had a last minute touchdown from Kayson Phillips but a failed 2 point conversion left them with a 31-15 loss to West Texas.

With the win the Buffaloes improve to 3-3 overall and 2-1 in Lone Star Conference play. They head to Portales next week to take on the Greyhounds in the annual wagon wheel game at Greyhound stadium. Were you at the game? Share your photos with us on our app!
