During a construction project at the 8700 block of S Western in Amarillo, a man was partially ran over and crushed by an asphalt roller.  An asphalt roller is a huge machine that rolls the asphalt flat, and I can't imagine the pain the man is going through after it rolling over his feet and legs.  While an employee was raking loose asphalt near the roller, another employee got inside the roller and began to move forward to flatten it out, not knowing there was a co-worker standing in harms way.

"The driver of the machine could not see the employee standing nearby and put the machine in gear and proceed to move forward. The roller ran over the man’s foot knocking him down and continued for several more feet. Due to the noise level of the machine the driver was not able to hear other employees yelling at him to stop. The driver finally noticed something was wrong and immediately stops the machine."

The injured employee was stabilized and transported to a local hospital with life threatening injuries. The injured employee is only described as a W/M 23. He did suffer multiple internal injuries and broken bones.
