What's going on with AISD Student Safety?

Let's start off with what happened earlier today APD and AISD are Police looking into threats made against students on AISD Campuses. APD has made a statement into what's going on and is taking the lead to ensure students are safe. Look out for increased patrols near campuses as they continue to monitor the situation

Ping Pong In Amarillo?

The Pong City Tournament kicks off tomorrow here in Amarillo at Carter Gym located on the Amarillo College Washington Street Campus. The tournament features 40 of the best players from around the world as they determine who is top of the game. The event is a big deal for the ping pong scene here in Amarillo as it's the first USA Table Tennis sanctioned event in over 40 years. How cool is that? If you go, it's free but you will need to mask up. Now if you happen to be making your way in from the southwest part of town....

Detours coming to Soncy area

Well. maybe not for Saturday but starting Monday Buccola Avenue between Soncy and Mosely will be closed as the city gets to repairing the road. expect detours between 8 AM and 6 PM through Tuesday as traffic gets detoured over to Perry. Speaking of roads... a big one here is getting a name change...

US 60 Gets A Name Change to honor a fallen hero in Herford.

DPS Trooper Matthew Myrick had his end of watch January 20th 2006 when he was responding to a routine call and was killed in the line of duty. The folks of Herford have paid tribute to him by renaming a stretch of US 60 just east of town in the troopers' honor. These heroes know that there is no safety net even for routine calls just in the past few days law enforcement in the region paid tribute to Chad Walker who was laid to rest and as we speak another DPS Trooper was injured yesterday Juan Tovar was shot while responding to a mass shooting in the Bryan/College Station area.

 

If you're looking for the COVID-19 vaccine here in the Amarillo area

There are quite a few locations already offering the vaccine and a change is coming to the Convention Center instead of using the north Entrance #3 folks are being asked to use Entrance #2 which is on the west side of the building.
