They call it a motor vehicle vs pedestrian accident, which sounds like one of the most 1 sided accidents I've ever heard of.  Yesterday morning, at approximately 7:58am, Amarillo police officers responded to such an incident, where a 9 year old boy was struck by a moving vehicle on the 2000 block of North Marrs street.

I'm assuming the child was on his way to school, because immediately after the accident, he was taken inside Whittier Elementary School.

Amarillo PD reports:

On 12-4-12, at 7:58 AM, officers investigated a motor vehicle vs. pedestrian accident. Officers found that a 9-year old male child had been hit by a car in the 2000 block of N. Marrs. After the accident, the child was taken inside Whittier Elementary School. The driver, a local woman age 33, told officers that she was southbound, pulling in to park in the 2000 block of N. Marrs, at the time of the accident. She did not see the child enter the roadway but heard the sound of her vehicle striking the child. The child was crossing the street but was not in a designated crosswalk of the time of the accident. The child was transported to a local hospital by ambulance. His injuries are not life-threatening. The driver of the involved vehicle, a maroon 2008 Dodge, was issued citations for no driver’s license and no insurance.

The good news is, his injuries are not life-threatening, the bad news is, she has no insurance.
