A Canyon teen was arrested today by Randall County Sheriffs on murder charges and auto theft charges.  17 year old, Apollo Rivera-Rodriguez, ran over another man as he was trying to steal a truck in the Hunsley Hills area.

 

 

Amarillo Globe News reports:

Apollo Rivera-Rodriguez, 17, was taken to the Randall County jail on charges of murder, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and driving while intoxicated charges, jail officials said.

The teen in question was trying to steal a truck out of a 29 year old man's driveway, whom is the same victim he ran over and killed.

After running over the owner of the vehicle, the 17 year old then fled the scene in the stolen pick-up truck, where he later ditched it on the Palo Duro Creek golf course.

The name of the victim has not been released and Canyon Police are still investigating the crime for further details.
