Amarillo Is Getting Adult Sports Leagues With a Full Bar
One of my favorite things to do is play sports. Yes, I'm older and don't move as well or react as quickly, but hey, I still love it. These days, it's more about socializing and getting a little exercise in, but there's one thing missing in Amarillo.
A place where I can go to play a game or two, then have a couple of drinks after the game with my teammates and friends. Sure, softball is a different beast. Coolers full of beer replace those with water, but any other sport? Nope, nada, nothing.

Introducing Leagues After Dark
Well, that's all about to change. Amarillo is getting a new program that's going to promote some indoor sports that don't tend to have a lot of adult leagues available, and it's going to have everything you can imagine during the games and after.
Amarillo Netplex is bringing us 'Leagues After Dark', which they are billing as an alternative to dinner and a movie. Now, while I can't convince my wife to get on the courts to play, she would come and support...and have some beverages for sure.
What Will Be Offered For Leagues After Dark
As far as activity goes, they'll be offering up 3v3 basketball, pickleball, and volleyball leagues you can participate in. These are all perfect, and I'm loving the 3v3 basketball option. There are plenty of 5v5 leagues, but 3v3 is a different type of game.
So what else can you expect? How about a fully stocked bar you can take advantage of as well as an elevated food menu? Now THAT is how adult recreational sports leagues should be. We aren't chasing glory any longer; we're chasing fun.
When Does It Start & How Much Does It Cost
The fun kicks off on July 31 and will wrap up with championship games on August 28. So, a good month of fun to kind of switch up date night. I mean, it could be fun even if your spouse doesn't play sports. Go for the socializing and exercise...and bragging rights inside your house.
Each program costs something different. Pickleball will run you $30 per player, 3v3 basketball teams will cost only $75 for the full team, and volleyball will set you back $120 per team. You can sign your team up by going here. If you can't put together a team but still want to play, you can sign up as a free agent and get placed on a roster before opening night.
