34 Amarillo area schools failed to meet federal performance standards this year, as reported by the Texas Education Agency.  The marks are set by the No Child Left Behind act, and the only school in the area to hit the benchmarks, was Highland Park.

Outside of that, 34 out of the 78 schools fell short!

Our teachers, and our students, all have their work cut out for them here!  I truly believe that we have some fantastic teachers in our area, and I think they are really trying hard to teach, and that students are really putting in effort to learn.

But this seems to be a trend, as only 12 schools fell short last year, making it double the amount this year.

Next year, the standards are only going to get harder, so again, we need to support our children, and our teachers, and chip in any way we can to get our area schools up to standards.
