Are you ready for Fall?

On August 21, 2022, we hit a weather record for the coolest high temperature. It was a glorious cool day. It was time to enjoy coffee on the patio wrapped in a blanket, and hoodies for the day wear, and it made us want Fall.

School is back and football has kicked off and we need to say goodbye to summer, but those sneaky 100-degree temps will still rear their ugly heads.

Here's some good news. Fall is almost here.

If you don't want to wait for the actual first day of Fall on September 22nd, then you can celebrate the meteorological start of Fall is September 1st. That's right, you can celebrate Fall on Thursday, September 1st.

What is meteorological fall?

According to the National Weather Service, Meteorological autumn (different from standard/astronomical autumn) begins September 1 and ends November 30. The equinox at which the sun approaches the Southern Hemisphere, marking the start of astronomical autumn in the Northern Hemisphere. The time of this occurrence is approximately September 22.

That means you can show up to work with your hoodie on, drinking your Pumpkin Spice Latte in your "It's Fall Yall" coffee cup.

Plus the other good news, is temps are going to start to trend down. The National Weather Service in Amarillo shared the trend for falling temps.

I don't know about you, but cooler temps and the changing of the leaves are a wonderful time of the year.

Again true Fall doesn't start until September 22nd but please join me in celebrating the start of it with all our favorite meteorologists.

Bring on the Fall!
