I Drove Right Past It: Eyewitness Details Amarillo Rollover Crash

Hearing sirens in Amarillo is nothing out of the ordinary. In fact, there is constantly a firetruck or ambulance coming down my street at least every couple of weeks.

Saturday afternoon, my daughter and I were outside when we heard some sirens go racing by. She pointed them out, and I thought nothing of it. I acknowledged she heard sirens, and we went back inside.

It wasn't until I hopped on Facebook that I saw what those sirens were for, and it wasn't a pretty sight. In fact, I had to run to the store, which meant I had to drive right past it.

If you were on Facebook at any point on Saturday, you probably saw some pictures of the wreckage. I can tell you it was worse in person.

A white Cadillac with airbags deployed and a massive dent in the passenger door, and a burnt orange car that was unrecognizable on its side, the roof of the car cut open.

Why Was The Orange Car Cut Open

My understanding is that it was the only way to get the people inside the car out. I wasn't there when they cut the car open, but you can clearly see it had been sawn open on one side.

The car appears to be missing its entire front end, and obviously airbags had deployed inside the vehicle.

How Badly Was The Cadillac Damaged

It looks like it took quite an impact itself. The front bumper appears to have been ripped off the car, and the passenger side had taken what appeared to be quite a high-impact strike.

You can see the airbags inside the Cadillac also deployed, indicating the car took impact at a decent rate of speed.

What Was The Cause Of The Accident

Police were on-scene doing an investigation of the crash site, but we haven't gotten an official word as to what happened.

There have been several different comments on various Facebook pages as to what may have happened, one of which indicates a Walmart employee saw the accident happen and stated the orange car was moving at a high rate of speed.

According to the comment, the white car pulled out and was immediately hit by the orange car. Again, this is an unconfirmed report.
