The First Baptist Church on South Tyler along with The Amarillo Area Black Chamber of Commerce will be a food box giveaway Tomorrow morning at 9 AM for those affected by COVID-19.

Timothy Gassaway, president of the Amarillo Area Black Chamber of Commerce told reporters the Chamber looks forward to give away the 25 pound boxes of protein and they are also giving away complimentary 25 pound boxes of produce as well.

Those who arrive for the donations do not need to leave their car; you will just need to have your trunk open so the boxes can be placed inside.

The Associate Pastor of First Baptist Church Trevor Brown said that all are welcome at the event.  “There's no qualification necessary not even I.D.'s required," said Brown. "So, if you show up on Saturday we will begin at 9:00 a.m. and we will go as long as we can and have access to a large quantity of food. So, we should be able to serve people all day.”

If you would like to volunteer at the event to arrive at the First Baptist Church on South Tyler Street between 5 and 6 AM.

A total of 3,000 boxes of produce with fruits and vegetables as well as 3,000 boxes of frozen meats and proteins will be given away. Pastor Brown said they will begin at 9 AM and go until they no longer have any boxes left.
