Amarillo Public Library Receives Prestigious Award, Again.
The Amarillo Public Library has been recognized by the Texas Municipal Library Directors Association and has received the achievement of excellence award for the fifth time.
This is quite amazing because only 53 of the 571 public library systems in the state of Texas earned the award this year. So that means the Amarillo Public Libraries are among the top ten percent of libraries in Texas. Amarillo Public Library has a great collection as well as computer services, there are programs happening at the Amarillo Public Library that are free and are available to everyone. Some of the programs include a free English class as a second language classes and their citizenship classes.
Another example is the fifteen free story times every week, which is great for kids. Research has shown that kids who go to the library earlier in life tend to read earlier, and are better prepared to start school opposed those who do not. Story times are held at all five Amarillo Public Library locations.
This award means the Amarillo Public Library has achieved excellence in several areas, things like summer reading programs or service to undeserved populations.
