I know that the landscape of Amarillo is forever changing. There is progress all over the city. Then there are some unexpected setbacks that cause some changes too.

I am proud to call the Wolflin/Bivins/Georgia Street area my home. I spend a lot of my time in that area. So watching the different changes is one thing that I like to do. I have lived in that area since the nineties so there have been a lot of ups and downs. I remember when there was a two-story Hastings.

I remember when the Dollar Tree was once a Homeland. Way before Market Street took over the area. So watching Georgia Village change a lot has been something I have done over the years.

Very recently it housed a lot more than the Dollar Tree and Aarons that it only has right now. They are getting ready to add a Scooter's that is why the guy selling the flags and rugs finally had a Going out of Business Sale.

Back in September of 2020, the storefronts were all full. They had a Dash for Cash, Bark Avenue, Phone Medic, Cricket on top of the Dollar Tree, Aarons and a Family Dollar.

Then a fire destroyed a big chunk of the shopping center. The process later of tearing down those stores started. It seemed like a big piece was gone overnight. This was the area that was affected by the fire.

The tear down took time but everything but the Family Dollar, Dollar Tree, and Aarons buildings was gone. The Family Dollar was not open anymore but the building still stood.

That was until recently. I went to fill up my water jugs recently and poof it was gone too.

So I just can't wait to see what they are going to do with all of that real estate. Are they going to rebuild into a complete shopping center again? What will they be putting in that area? Only time will tell.
