American Idol News – Keith Urban Deal NOT Official, But It’s Close!

In American Idol news, Keith Urban is in negotiations to take the place of Randy Jackson as the shows third judge, along side Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj.

No pen has been put to paper yet though, as Keith is still working out some contract issues.

TMZ Reports:

"Idol" sources tell us, the country singer is in the final negotiation stages with producers to take the third judging spot on the show -- alongside Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj, who replaced Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler.

Again, not official, but things are looking like it will be a done deal very soon.

The word is, Keith will be pulling around 3-4 million dollars for his spot on the show, which is about half of what Nicki Minaj is making!  And pennies on the dollar compared to the freaking mind blowing 18 million dollars Mariah is getting!

TMZ also reports that the American Idol big-wigs are wanting a 4th judge for the show.  The only information on the 4th spot for now is, they want it to be a male judge.  Reason being, they "don't think the show will work with 2 woman and only 1 man".  A little sexist?  Wouldn't you agree?

I look forward to seeing Mariah have a meltdown on TV, should make for an interesting night!
