Another Vehicle Stolen In Amarillo? This One Wasn’t A Car
We've known about the rash of stolen cars in Amarillo for some time now.
Seems like every day, there are several vehicles stolen right out of someone's driveway.

This one is a bit different, however. Yes, it was indeed a vehicle stolen this time. It was NOT a car though.
Ever heard of a gyrocopter? It's kind of like a helicopter, but it doesn't operate the same. It's an aircraft that uses an unpowered rotor to operate. Forward thrust for it to move is supplied by an engine-driven propeller.
They're definitely interesting and cool-looking machines, and now there's one on the loose in the city.
Amarillo Crime Stoppers is on the lookout for a gyrocopter that was snatched from the 1000 block of Sunset Terrace on May 3.
Now, this shouldn't be TOO hard to find I would think, it's not something you can just hop in and drive around on the street hoping you aren't seen. I get a feeling a lot of people would notice one of these up in the air or trying to take off from somewhere.
This particular model is a KB2 Dropkeled Gyrocopter, with a tail number of N243ST. That's essentially its license plate for those that don't know. This particular gyrocopter had its front fairing removed when it was taken.
If you have any info on its whereabouts or know anything related to the theft, you can reach out to Amarillo Crime Stoppers at 806-374-4400. Anonymous tips can be left using the P3 Tips App.If your information leads to the recovery of the gyrocopter, it could be up to a $1,000 reward for you.
