Texas Lands Three Cities On The Best Of America List
You don't have to tell us Texans that we live in the greatest state in the union, we were already aware of that thank you very much.
However, there's always a debate amongst us Texans as to which city it the best to live in. You'll hear arguments for a number of cities, and they each have their plus sides.
Well, Resonance Consultancy is trying to put an end to that whole debate. The question is whether or not they got it right.
They just put together a list of the top 100 cities to live in within the United States, and one Texas city landed inside the top 10, while two others cracked their way inside the top 100 list, well the top 20 to be exact.
So what city did they say was the best on Texas? I'm sure it's going to cause all sorts of arguments, but here we go.
HOUSTON
Houston. They chose Houston.
It checked in as the 10th best city to live in in the entire United States. How did they come to that conclusion? Well, let's dive into that shall we?
Houston was mentioned as one of the most culturally diverse cities in the country, stating that more than 145 languages are spoken at home in Houston. That's wild to me, I didn't even realize there were 145 different languages as a whole.
There are two places though that the city really shone, and one of those was the dining scene. Labeled as "underappreciated", Houston is loaded with some amazing Southern Soul, barbecue, and Mexican places to grab a bite at.
In fact, they ranked Houston above places like San Francisco and Vegas, and they're both known for some incredible cuisine to choose from.
However, it was the economic wealth that shot Houston into the top 10. It ranked number three in the country for Fortune 500 companies to work for as well as having a ton of patents within the city.
40% of Houston's wealth is tied to the oil and gas sector, which doesn't come as much of a surprise to us Texans. It's the home of oil and gas giants ConocoPhillips, ExxonMobil, and Phillips 66. You may have heard of those companies before.
So enough about Houston, there are still two more Texas cities that cracked the top 100. So who are they and where did they land on the list?
AUSTIN
Yes, Austin did land on the list, and not too far away from Houston to be honest. The Capitol city checked in at number 15 on the list on the strength of the attraction for entrepreneurs and investors to come and do work in the city.
Oh yeah, it's got a pretty solid music scene if you haven't heard. Home of the Austin City Limits Music Festival and SXSW (South by Southwest), it grabbed the #8 ranking when it came to nightlife. I would fully agree with this ranking. I've experienced it all there.
So who's the third and final city from Texas to launch themselves into the top 100 cities to live in?
DALLAS
That would be Dallas checking in right behind Austin at #16.
It landed so high based on the strength of the city being home to more than 10,000 corporate headquarters. Think about that for a minute. All these companies out there and 10,000 of them decided Dallas was THE place to post up.
So hey, like we said, Texas is the best state to live in the United States. I think this pretty much confirms it for us.
