Not long after announcing that he would be running for the Governor of Texas, Beto O'Rourke has hit the campaign trail and will be stopping in Amarillo.

According to the website Beto for Texas, the gubernatorial candidate will be making his stop in Amarillo on December 13th. Mr. O'Rourke will be available from 6pm-7pm.  Update: they visit will take place in Sam Houston Park,  4101 Line Ave.

O'Rourke is a former Congressman and 2020 Presidential candidate.  He currently leads Power to the People.

He is running on a Democratic ticket in hopes of beating our current Governor, Greg Abbot.

Others running for the seat of the Governor of Texas include:

Allen West, Republican
Don Huffines, Republican
Chad Prather, Republican
Deidre Gilbert, Democrat
Michael Cooper, Democrat

I know a lot of people were hoping that actor and Texan Matthew McConaughey would be running for Governor.  However, on Sunday, November 28th he posted a video of why he would not be running for the position.

Many hearts broke with this announcement because we would not be able to say Governor McConaughey, all right, all right, all right.

Candidates seeking the seat of Governor have until December 13, to file for their candidacy. The list of candidates for Governor just might grow.

The primary election will take place on March 1, 2022, with the General Election taking place on November 8, 2022.
