Thanksgiving week is upon us, but once we make it through stuffing ourselves silly, Amarillo will be loaded down with all sorts of fun holiday events you'll be able to attend. Some of them are favorites that have been around awhile, some are relatively new.

All of these events are family friendly, which is what we're looking for during the holidays. So let's jump into them.

CENTER CITY'S ELECTRIC LIGHT PARADE

Always a fun event, you'll get to see a bunch of cars and different floats lit up and cruising through downtown Amarillo. Happening on Friday, December 6th, you'll find over 60 float adorning Polk St. starting at 6 pm.

The theme of the year is "Parade of Trees" so the majority of the floats will be loaded with all sorts of different types of trees. The parade route starts at 11th and Polk and ends at Fourth and Polk.

CHRISTMAS IN CANYON

When you wake up the next morning, start getting dressed up in your best Christmas gear and head out to Canyon. Their big Christmas in Canyon event will take place on Saturday, December 7th. This will get you in the holiday spirit in so many different ways.

The event will feature a choir singing your favorite Christmas carols, there will be all sorts of vendors to do a little shopping with, food for when you get hungry, a parade will happen through the streets, and of course, Santa will be there for the kiddos.

CHRISTMAS IN THE SKY

Aside from watching great baseball every season, we can always rely on HODGETOWN to provide us with a fireworks show to remember. Once again, HODGETOWN comes through in the clutch. The OccuNet Company and Fairly Group are throwing the big Christmas In The Sky fireworks show.

The sky will light up on Friday, December 13th out at HODGETOWN. The gates will open up at 6 pm with the festivities kicking off at 7 pm. Admission is free on a first-come, first-serve basis and there will be all sorts of things to enjoy inside at HODGETOWN turns into the North Pole.
