Your Guide To Corn Mazes And Fall Festivals In Amarillo
Now that fall has arrived in Amarillo, well, sort of, it's time to start thinking about one of our favorite fall activities to do.
CORN MAZES!! Yup, they're back, and Amarillo is home to several great ones to work your way through.
Believe it or not, all three of them are prepping and getting ready to open their doors at the end of September, so we need to get you geared up and ready so you know when it's time to hit those mazes!
Let's take a look at the big three here in town that you'll be traversing through, trying to escape from.
MAXWELL'S PUMPKIN FARM
We start with the most recognizable one in the area, and the one that's been around the longest. Maxwell's always provides a great time for the family with SO much to do there. Every time the family and I go, we're there for hours.
Let's start with the corn maze since that's what we're really focused on. We don't know what they've cooked up for us this season to work our way through, but we know it's going to be expansive.
My favorite one so far since I moved here was the year they did the Sod Poodles logo. It looked so cool from the sky and it was extremely difficult to get through. I'm pretty sure my kids got lost inside it a few times.
Outside of the corn maze, Maxwell's offers up the ever-popular slides with burlap bags, apple cannons, and the famous pumpkin patch amongst all sorts of other things. It appears there is something new coming too called the Pumpkin Jumper. Can't wait to see what this is.
If you're ready to go, then get your tickets to Maxwell's now. The doors to Maxwell's open September 21st.
LEONARD FARMS CORN MAZE & PUMPKIN PATCH
This is one that is a more recent place to open its doors, and it's quickly become a fan favorite among so many families. Located just outside Canyon, Leonard Farms has a growing reputation for being one of the most affordable fall festivals in the Texas Panhandle.
However, this is NOT a pay-for-what-you-get kind of place. They recently posted a video on Facebook of the monster that is carving up their corn maze and they always put together something challenging to get through.
Hayrides, the phenomenal pumpkin patch, as well as the ever-popular sand pit, they also have a bale maze to get through if you just didn't get your fill with the corn maze. Make sure you check it out this year. The season kicks off on September 27th.
GEE FAMILY FARMS
Here's one you may or may not know about, but I love this one because it's family owned and it really comes off that way. When they put together the farm for the festival, they keep families in mind with activities everyone will enjoy.
Just like the rest of them, the main attraction is the corn maze. Outside of that, they have some really cool things. Duck races that you can get in for $1, corn shucking, which I get doesn't SOUND fun but wait until you try it.
There's also a cotton patch for you to go through (just bring allergy meds if you like to sneeze), and “Sally’s Corn Shootin’ Range” which is exactly what you think it is.
It's only $7 per person to get in, and any kiddo under the age of 4 is free. The season at Gee Family Farms gets underway September 28th.
