D.B. Reviews Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2
Last night I took my son to the UA movie theater to check out Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2. It was fantastic but there was an element of the movie that really affected my son.
First, you do not have to know anything about the comics to enjoy these movies. There is already a Guardians of the Galaxy part 1 that I highly recommend you see first before seeing this movie. There are a lot of callbacks to the first movie that you will miss if you see Vol. 2 first.
Now there will not be any spoilers in this blog. What I am going to share is info you have seen in any of the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 trailers. This movie centers around Peter Quill Aka Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) finding his father, Ego (played by Kurt Russel). I was told by many parents that saw this movie before me that the twist with Star-Lord and his father really impacted their kids. The parents who said this the most were the ones with sons. Again, I won’t ruin the twist but it has a heart-warming ending.
During the car ride, home my son and I had a nice talk about the ending. He gave me a big hug and said he was glad I was his Daddy. When you see the movie, you will know why. Anyone can be a father, but it takes a special kind of man to be a daddy.
Besides some minor language, I feel this movie was awesome and very funny. My son loved it and he is 8. I give it five stars. I would watch it again. Just so I can see the stuff I most likely missed the first time I saw it.
