On May 18th, 2013, Amarillo Police were sent to a motorcycle VS motor vehicle collision at 41st & Washington in Amarillo.  A car driven by David Monarez had collided with a motorcycle driven by 34 year old Timothy Nicholas Hilleary.  Monarez had fled the scene of the accident, but was caught up to and brought back.  Hilleary was transported to the hospital, where he died from injuries received in the crash.  Today, David Monarez was indicted by the 47th District Court Grand Jury on a charge of Intoxication Manslaughter with a Motor Vehicle.

"On May 18, 2013 at approximately 10:09 PM, officers were dispatched to a motorcycle vs. motor vehicle collision at 41st and S. Washington. Upon their arrival they discovered that Timothy Nicholas Hilleary, WM, 34 of Amarillo had been driving a 2003 Triumph Motorcycle northbound on Washington Street at 41st Ave. A white car had turned from southbound on Washington to eastbound onto 41st. This car turned left in front of Hilleary. The Triumph struck the white car. The car fled the scene. Officers searched the area and located a 2001 Nissan Maxima in the 4100 block of S Monroe. The driver had fled the area. Hilleary was transported to a local hospital. He later died at the hospital of injuries received in the crash. The driver of the Maxima was located and brought back to the scene. He is identified as David Monarez, WM, 30 of Amarillo. Alcohol and speed are factors in this collision. Monarez was later booked into the Randall County Sheriff’s Office Jail for Intoxicated Manslaughter and Failure to Stop and Render Aid. Judge Jones has ordered an autopsy for Hilleary. The case is being investigated by the Traffic Investigation Squad of the Amarillo Police Dept."
