Were you in the Dick Bivins area yesterday? Around 530 pm on Monday many people what they thought was a dust-storm turned out to be a micro-burst. Your wondering what is a micro-burst? A micro-burst is a powerful burst of wind that results from sinking air in a thunderstorm that measures less than 2½ miles in scale. Many call were reported yesterday with people saying they had seen a tornado in the Amarillo area.

The National Weather Service Amarillo officials said it was not a tornado that it was a micro burst. A micro-burst can cause wind speeds up to 150 mph and sometimes can be more dangerous than tornadoes.

Yesterdays micro-burst hit  the area of South 26th Avenue and South Buchannan Street.

There were no injuries reported but there was one building that got hit and ripped the roof off and it landed on 26th Avenue. Micro-burst are very rare. Did anyone see the Gustnado yesterday?
