Dog Halloween Parade in NYC

The Halloween season is upon us. Every where you look you are sure to see pumpkins, decorations, and of course costumes. But this year, there seems to be more costumes for pets than ever before.

Every year when Halloween comes around, I get super excited. Especially now that I am a mom. I want to decorate the entire house and lawn, and of course get the perfect costumes.
This past weekend I took my son out to find a costume and look for some Halloween decorations. We started at Walmart. And much to my surprise, they had an entire row of costumes dedicated to pets. And these costumes were super cute.  Of course, PetSmart is always prepared for any holiday.

But that leaves me questioning, how many people actually dress up their pets for Halloween? I've seen some dogs dressed in coats and sweaters and I have always thought that was a little weird, but a costume?  Dogs are smart.   I've have always heard that dogs have the mentality of a three or four year old, so they may enjoy the costumes. That or they may be completely humiliated.

Now I do not own any animals, but I love them. I think that puppies, especially, are so adorable. But in my opinion they are still pets. I would never think to dress them up much less put them in a costume.  Maybe I'm just being a bummer, but I think that Halloween has become too commercialized just like all the other holidays.

So what do you think?  Would you dress your pet up in a costume?
