Fall/Winter Activities In Amarillo – Angels Top 5
We are in a sea-saw battle between cold and mild temperatures so it can be hard to plan fun stuff. During the late fall and winter months, it's often too cold to do a lot of outside activities. Fortunately, Amarillo has a bunch of things to do that are indoor. I have spent the past couple days finding the best things to do during the cold times of the year so that I could share with you. A lot of the activities can be enjoyed by the whole family, but would even be fun if you were single or on a date.
I know what you're thinking, swimming in the winter? Well yes. West Texas A & M University in Canyon has an awesome recreational center that has an indoor swimming pool. It is a pretty amazing pool equipped with a water slide, lazy river and vortex pool. It will be a great, fun time and give the family a glimpse into the summer. It only cost $5 for a day pass, but you can get a membership for a month or year depending on what you'd like. Fun, fun, fun!
It seems like I hit the theater more in the Fall/Winter months than in the summer. It is a way to get out of the house, but you don't have to been in the cold. There is nothing like theater popcorn and a large coke. Yum! There are always new movies so you will have a large selection from which to choose.
Maybe I'm a little nerdy, but I love to go to museums and art galleries and Amarillo is filled with them. If you are into art, you should check out the art galleries at the Sunset Center or the Amarillo Museum of Art. You can also take the kiddos to the Don Harrington Discovery Center, which is filled with a ton of fun stuff to look at. There is also a Railroad Museum and a whole lot more.
How about rock climbing? Amarillo Rock Climbing House, or A.R.C.H., is located at 500 S. Fannin in Amarillo, Texas. The facility is filled with professionals teaching and demonstrating how to rock climb safely. They provide rental gear and a fun time. If you really enjoy hiking and the outdoors, this will be a great time.
- Nothing is more romantic than taking your date to play miniature golf. Well now you don't have to wait for summer. Lights off golf is an indoor miniature golf course. It is all the fun of miniature golf, except it's even more fun because it happens under black lights. Kids and adults can both enjoy a round while avoiding harsh weather.
