Unless you are living under a rock, then I'm sure you have heard that Family Radio Evangelist Harold Camping has predicted the world will end tomorrow, Saturday May 21, 2001.  Is it all a scam?  Let me tell you what I know and you can decide for yourself.

Yesterday I blogged about Camping predicting a huge earthquake which will set the final rapture in motion.  Five months until the entire universe will be destroyed.  Many have taken his predictions to the extreme and sold everything they had in preparation.

Family Radio is a non profit business that runs strictly off of donations.  In years past it has brought in more that $18 million.  Well since Camping announced that the end was near, donations have sky rocketed.  So much so that Family Radio has received over $100 Million in donations.

What is the money for?  If the world is going to end why do they need all the donations? Well according to Camping, they haven't been able to spend all the money and they need it because they will pay the bills to the end.  What?  Does that sound like doubt?  Yeah!  So he is hyping up the end of the world, but reserving money just in case.

But Family Radio isn't the only business making a profit off of the end of the world.  An Atheist run organization is offering the service of caring for your pets when you are gone.  The business is called Eternal-Earth bound pets, And for $135 an Atheist will care for your pet when you are taken to heaven.  The $135 is for the first pet and $20 for each additional pet.  But here is the good news, the contract with Eternal-Earth Bound Pets is good for 10 years.  So if the rapture is set to start and your not taken up right away, you will be covered until 2021.

I read this and think what a bunch of baloney.  But some people want to make sure their pets are cared for.  So far 259 people have signed up for their services.  If each one only has one pet, that is already $34, 965.  Not a bad start.

So what are your thoughts on this?  Please share.
