What...a...day. We came into Saturday with high hopes for Help 4 The Holidays here in Amarillo, and did it ever meet those hopes.

Now, I'll caution that by saying we started the day with high hopes, but four hours in, when we hadn't received a single donation, we were really starting to sweat it and wonder how we were going to get it to come together. The second half of the day, however, was EXACTLY what we needed.

Generosity POURS In

Around 11:30 am on Saturday, we were out here wondering how we were going to be able to drive the donations we so desperately needed. Not one car or person had come in for nearly five hours. Then, one car with a couple of bags arrived. Spirits officially lifted.

Another hour passed with no one showing up, and our spirits were once again diminished. We ate a little lunch and thought about how we could turn things around. Turns out, we didn't need to worry. Around 1:30 pm, the donations just began pouring in, and some really large ones mixed in with the smaller ones.

The Biggest Of The Big

We had three donations that rolled in over a two-hour span sent us into a giddy state, not to mention all the smaller ones that came in during the same two-hour span. I don't want to discount the smaller donations, because even those smaller ones are huge. The small ones help families the same as the big ones do, so don't stop with the little ones. We appreciate them as much as the large ones.

A few I do want to highlight, however, include the Mays Group, the ones who run Wolflin Square, Wolflin Village, and so much more across Amarillo. That group not only provides us a place to hold Help 4 The Holidays, but they also came out with an entire back end of an SUV loaded with items we'd been asking specifically for.

Another vehicle showed up with the whole back end of their crossover filled, from the floor to the ceiling. I wish we had gotten their name, but they took off as we were walking the items inside the building. Then came a couple who simply referred to themselves as Williams. They handed us the single largest cash donation in the history of Help 4 The Holidays. I nearly cried, no joke. What that will allow us to do on Sunday evening is beyond words. So thank you, everyone, for your generosity.

The Final Day, The Final Push

One more day remains in Help 4 The Holidays 2025, and that's today, Sunday, Dec. 7th. We want to make this as big as Saturday was, so we can overload the inside of the building and show the 20+ local non-profits we work with how much the city cares for what they're doing. We want to be able to show those who need the help that they have an entire city behind them.

So let's run it back, Amarillo and Canyon, one last time for this year. I didn't think we were going to be able to grow it bigger this year than it was last year...but we are right on the cusp of it. Can you help push us over that hump and make 2025 the BIGGEST year in Help 4 The Holidays' history? Check out the list here and grab anything and everything you can and are willing to grab. Thank you...for everything so far, and everything you're going to do. We're at 2221 I-40 Frontage Rd in Wolflin Square.
