It’s Official. Next Time You Go To Austin From Amarillo, You Can Fly.
Yesterday (3/10/22) marked the start of a new option for non-stop service out of Amarillo. If you find yourself needing to get to Austin, you can do it from Amarillo without any stops along the way.
Non-Stop Service To The State Capital Of Texas
We've covered several announcements in the past regarding new non-stop, direct flight options out of Rick Husband International Airport. In fact, when this one was announced we were all over it.
These options are great, especially for in-state traveling. It used to bother me so bad when I would be flying in from Houston and I would have to make a stop, or swap planes, in Dallas.
Austin is just the latest in these non-stop options available. What makes it even sweeter, is that it is daily.
Daily Non-Stop Flights From Amarillo To Austin Texas
According to a press release from the City of Amarillo, the flights will run daily. They are with Southwest Airlines.
I may need to finally make a trip down to Austin just for fun. Southwest is usually my preferred choice.
Is Your Trip For Business Or Pleasure?
Either way, you can now get to and from Austin quicker. Also, those direct non-stop flights are usually cheaper. That's a win-win.
It's exciting. When I think about it, it almost makes it feel like Amarillo is now somehow better connected to the outside world. We're pretty much on an island unto ourselves up here in the Texas panhandle, or so it seems at times. Being able to get from one place to the other conveniently does help get rid of some of those isolated feelings.
Now, if we could just get non-stop service into Oklahoma...
