We're blessed in Amarillo, Texas to have some great parks to spend the morning or afternoon in. There are plenty of playgrounds and shady areas to hang out with the family. Two of our parks are about to get some much-needed improvements. Medi Park and Sam Houston Park are on deck to get some love.

They're Fixing The Sidewalks At Sam Houston And Medi Park

This is something that's been needing some attention for a while. The sidewalks at the parks could use a little repair. The good news is that work is being done and it's supposedly estimated to be done by the end of the month.

The repairs to sidewalks are focused on removing any tripping hazards at the parks. If you have a toddler who can't be bothered with walking when outside, you know exactly what they're talking about. Not only will it get rid of the hazards but it will make the parks look nicer. I think this is fantastic news.

New Lighting Systems Coming To Medi Park And Sam Houston Park In Amarillo

Another much-needed improvement is coming to both parks. According to reports, they're both getting new lighting systems. If you've been at either one around sun-down, you know just how badly we need this.

The problem isn't that there aren't lights at the parks. The problem is that the lighting we have just doesn't seem to be enough. I love walking at both parks in the evenings, and when the sun finally does go down, it gets very dark. Hopefully, these lighting systems will help with that.

I'm excited about this news. I go to both parks fairly often. I live near Sam Houston and visit Medi Park frequently. These improvements are going to make those trips feel a little safer and nicer. Let's just hope it does get finished by the end of the month.
