Buc-ee's has made its way to Amarillo at the end of 2024. They opened their doors a few months earlier than anticipated. Their arrival has been nothing but good news for Amarillo.

This new location has brought in many new jobs to our area. Even better news is the fact that they are all great paying positions. This Buc-ee's has also brought in many new billboards to our area.

There are billboards up and down 287 as we are driving from Dallas to Amarillo. There are also a lot of billboard messaging in our city as well. We don't want to forget we can get those Buc-ee's nuggets or a brisket sandwich any time we want.

As I was out doing some DoorDashing the other night I saw a couple of billboards that just were not adding up, I mean at all. There is an Econolodge on I40 West near Ross Street that is near the Quarter Horse museum. That billboard on the Econolodge property proudly informs us that Buc-ee's is Five miles away. That is good information to have.

Unless you look across I40. There is another billboard near the Camelot Inn. Pretty much right across the street from the Econolodge that speaks a different story. This billboard, that is not even a mile away, and that is if you take the long way walking the actual streets and not cutting across I40, which would make it even crazier says that Buc-ee's is even closer.

So the math is really not math-ing for these signs. I drove by several times to get the photos and the fact that the information is so wrong made me laugh. The Buc-ee's sign on the Econolodge lot is about five miles from our Buc-ee's location. To be exact it is 5.7 miles away. That billboard is correct.

The billboard near the Camelot Inn property is not right. It is also pretty close to being five miles away from Buc-ee's, even though the sign says three miles. Nope, it is 4.7 miles away.

Nobody would have honestly even noticed if they were not basically across the highway from each other. Those two miles are hard not to notice. Buc-ee the beaver needs to enroll in a math class right away.
