Amarillo Rejoices as a Long Time Shortage Finally Comes to an End

There has been one shortage that I have been following for about a year. Really, it seems longer than that. Every time I go to the grocery store I check out to see if this could possibly be the time that the shelves are stocked again.

I have had countless trips with disappointment. There was a place for this item but it has been empty for about a year. With this shortage, it took another beloved product with it. That one has returned but not this one. When?

When will I get my Hot Chili Sauce from Huy Fung back? They figured out a way to get their sriracha back but not the chili sauce. I bought my first new bottle of sriracha back in November. This is January and I was still looking for the paste.

That was until this weekend. I had to actually do a double take. They were way pushed back because people who have noticed it was back were buying it up. I will admit I bought three bottles. I have been waiting for a year.

I even mentioned to the employee who was working on that aisle that I couldn't believe they finally had this product back in stock. She said that yes a lot of people were saying the same thing.

This discovery warranted a text to my daughter in Dallas with my excitement. Her response was since she loves this chili paste too:

OMG, no freaking way. How many did you grab?

I had initially grabbed two but that was when I went back for the third. I knew that one was going to end up with her. This is big news in our house and a lot of homes that love to add this to their chicken fried rice or any Asian dish.

I am showing restraint because I have not opened it yet. I have had this in my refrigerator for three days now. I am waiting for my trip to get chicken fried rice from my favorite restaurant. I compared the sriracha when it came back out. There was a taste difference.

I really hope there is not one with the chili paste. I know they needed to find a new pepper distributer and that was the cause of the shortage but please I hope they got this right.
