“Magical Genius”: Why Drivers on Paramount are Doing a Double-Take This Week
When driving around Amarillo, you tend to find stuff that makes you chuckle. It could be a business sign. It could be some decoration that a neighbor has proudly displayed in their yard.
The Art of the Amarillo Sign: A Long-Standing Tradition
There’s a yard on the Dumas Highway that features a dinosaur. So really, you just never know what you are going to find. There are things that have been here for decades, like the Stanley Marsh signs.
Those signs have history, and there are still many yards that have them proudly displayed. I try to take photos of as many of those as I can. Then you see something that you don't even know who you can thank for the chuckle.

I saw someone post about it on social media over the weekend. I laughed at it and then moved on. While I was driving around the next day, I happened upon the exact item that someone posted about over the weekend.
Location Spotted: Finding the "Magical Genius" on Paramount
I had to look to see if maybe the photo was photoshopped, but it was not. Right next to the speed radar was a little sign that absolutely made my day. If you drive down Paramount towards Olsen, you will see this just as you cross over 34th.
High Score 57: Turning the Commute into a Game
Someone has jokes, and I am here for it. A separate sign next to the radar sign that suggests we go 30 mph is a handwritten sign that gives us a high score of 57. It even looks like it is a dry-erase board that can be updated. Kudos.
This is magical. I know that a police officer may not find it as funny because, yes, I agree safety is most important, but so is having a sense of humor. I also know that years ago, back in my 'speed-limit-optional' days, I received a speeding ticket near that area, so it happens.
I’m going to enjoy this for what it is: pure magical genius. Thank you for the laugh.
UPDATE:
Now... I'm not encouraging ACTUALLY trying to get the high score only because this is my own street.... BUT this party pooper stole the high score sign about an hour ago. I just got distracted and forgot to post. Lol. (It was at 59 btw) - Angel
The sign, for now, is gone, but it was all in fun. Why did someone have to steal it? I don't think it was harming anyone, and it was just there to give a few laughs. Someone always has to ruin the fun.
