Optical Illusions. They are so great. They get us to see things that aren't really there. It's a trip. Amarillo and the Texas Panhandle are not against giving us the stuff to enjoy. We have a few in the area.

There is no doubt you have driven out towards Boys Ranch and on a cloudy day enjoyed the Floating Mesa. I think that is the first one I experienced here in the Texas Panhandle. I had never heard of it and I had a friend point it out to me while we were heading out to the Boys Ranch Rodeo one Labor Day Weekend.

That was my introduction to optical illusions here in the Texas Panhandle. That one was courtesy of Stanley Marsh of course. But there are others of course.

Have you ever driven down a road and looked out to the horizon? Of course, you have. Have you tricked yourself into seeing skyscrapers? I mean your eyes can trick you a lot. I have experienced this driving down a road here outside Amarillo and thinking I see mountains out in the distance. Yeah, those aren't a thing here either. Our eyes do trick us. Another great optical illusion for us.

Have you heard about the clock in the grain tower? I haven't either and I know I have driven by it several times. Oh but in Hale County several people claim they have seen a clock. Why would there be a clock there? I mean we need to know the time. Is this really a thing? Seems to be another optical illusion that just tricks us.

So are you a fan of optical illusions? Have you had a chance to experience each of these? Which one is your favorite? Have you experienced any others?
