Closing Of Lone Star Bar & Grill After 50 Years

It's nice when we can look at the landscape of Amarillo and count on certain things to be around. We count on them because they have just always been there. We don't expect that to change.

Whether that is talking about a landmark, a tourist destination, or even a favorite hangout, Amarillo just is the kind of place we like to stay the same. The thing is, we know that it is not reality.

Great things come from change. Without change, Amarillo will be stuck in the past. Sometimes that change also means great things for families in Amarillo. Closing a well-established location can take away our favorite stomping ground, but it also brings the owners' time back with their families.

That is what was recently announced regarding the Lone Star Bar & Grill, 935 E Farm to Market Rd 1151.

To our wonderful community—
After nearly 50 years of serving this town, it is time for the next chapter. Ray and I have made the bittersweet decision to close the doors of Lone Star Bar & Grill.

Fifty years is one heck of a run, and for this team, it was always more than just a business. Lone Star Bar & Grill was a family. The countless number of guests and employees made their run a great one.

Though their time is ending, they hope that the legacy of Lone Star Bar & Grill can go on.

Looking ahead, we are hopeful. It is our sincere wish that the restaurant will be sold to someone who loves this community as much as we do, and that these doors will open again soon to continue the legacy that the Bagley’s and Murphy’s built together.
Our final day of service will be Saturday June 20th 2026. We hope you’ll come by one last time so we can thank you in person for five decades of memories.

It’s a long goodbye for now, but with any luck, the right owners will come along to keep the tradition alive. Maybe the magic of Lone Star is not over. This will be one we will keep an eye on. Good luck and congrats to the Lone Star Team for a great run in Amarillo.
