As you are getting out a little more in Amarillo to do stuff this summer, we love to help you along with suggestions. Every time we turn around, we happen to find something new we didn't know about.

What to Expect at the Lonesome Creek Longhorn Experience

Our newest discovery is Lonesome Creek Longhorns. Did you know that when you head out to the Slug Bug Ranch on I-40 East, you can now encounter more than just painted cars, you can meet live longhorns? What a great way to add even more to the Texas experience.

Lonesome Creek Longhorns has expanded! Come see us at the Starlight Ranch Event Center (1415 Sunrise Dr., Amarillo, TX 79104) - across the street from the Route 66 Slug Bug Ranch, right off I-40. Open 9a-9p (weather permitting) 7 days a week!
Come thru the Bug Ranch Gift Shop into the event center for an interactive experience with an icon of the West! You can learn about, feed, and even pet these beautiful animals! A photo area has been set up to take Route 66 souvenir photos with a live Longhorn, too! Round out the experience with a visit to our merchandise booth and take home some Lonesome Creek Longhorn souvenirs! It’s fun for all ages!

The Perfect Photo Opportunity in Amarillo

So, as you are looking for something new for your family to do, this is a great opportunity. You can get souvenir photos before you leave. Also, make sure you check out the souvenir shop.

Why This Is the Ultimate Amarillo Family Activity

Just think how much you can brighten your child's day with the chance to pet and feed the longhorns. That is not something you get to do every day. Though I guess you can, since they are open 7 days a week. I mean, let’s be honest: what’s a day in the Texas Panhandle without a longhorn?
Even better, this is one of those things you have to bring the out-of-town guests to. You know they count on you for great, fun tourist stops. A new stop to suggest when they come to visit.
Your visit down I-40 and to the Slug Bug Ranch has just gotten a whole lot more fun. We have the majestic team at Lonesome Creek Longhorns to thank for making the stop even better.
