It has been nearly twenty-five years since the day that Amarillo's Dorien Thomas went missing. To this day that case has never been solved. The family still has no idea what happened once he left his home with his bike.

I will tell you the city of Amarillo has not forgotten about him either. Any time there is a remote chance that remains have been found or anything that could solve his case, we hope. We want the family to get answers. Whatever those may be at this point.

We just remember that October when he went missing back in 1998. It's been a long time for the family just not knowing.

The City of Amarillo wants to make sure he is never forgotten. A petition went around back late last year to have something in the city named after Dorien. It is going to happen.

North Heights School here in Amarillo is going to be renamed. It will be known as the Dorien Thomas North Heights School. A perfect way to remember Dorien.

That is not all that is going to be done. Amarillo is big into having murals around the city. Just drive downtown and you will notice many of them. Plus there are several throughout the city on several businesses and even schools are now taking part in adding murals.

So Dorien Thomas is also going to get a mural on the school that is named after him. This is a perfect thing for our city. This is perfect for the family. This is a way to make sure he is never forgotten.
