There is something about hearing the good coming out of Amarillo that gives us hope. The fact that no matter how bad things may seem, there are people in our community trying to make a difference.

A Young Leader With A Massive Heart

When that person hasn't even started high school yet, you know there are big things in their future. That person is Rylee Jo Lively. She has been doing things for the community for years. She has been raising money for good causes.

She has been helping those less fortunate get Christmas presents. She is back at it again as the new school year is fast approaching. She wants to make sure that kids have the supplies they need to head back to school.

The crazy thing is, Rylee Jo is just twelve, and this is her sixth year helping out with the supplies.

Her last event was the Braggin' Rights Car Show back in March. I talked to her dad after the event, and they brought in $3500 to help Special Olympics.

Details For The 500-Backpack Giveaway At Whiteface Ford

Now, Rylee Jo is gearing up to hand out 500 backpacks completely packed with the essential school supplies local students need. The major backpack giveaway officially kicks off at 10:00 AM this Saturday, July 25, at Whiteface Ford in Hereford.

The giveaway is going on until every last backpack is given away to any kindergarten through high school student who shows up. The student does need to be present. Other than that, there are no other requirements. If a student needs supplies for the upcoming school year, Rylee Jo wants to make sure they have them.

Why Rylee Jo's Story Inspires Our Entire Community

Rylee Jo’s story is a reminder that making a difference doesn’t require a certain age, a big title, or a lot of money. It just takes someone who sees a need and decides to do something about it.

This weekend, 500 students will get a backpack full of supplies because one twelve-year-old decided she wanted to help. And that kind of kindness is exactly the type of good our community needs more of.
