Forget the Tow Truck: Why This 45th Street Church has Amarillo Drivers Doubling Back
While driving around Amarillo, one of the things I enjoy doing is paying attention to my surroundings. I like to notice things around the city. We have some really interesting things to notice.
I like it when businesses post funny signs to keep us on our toes. Driving on I-40, I always pay attention to the digital signs that TxDOT updates. They notify us of upcoming road conditions. If there is an Amber alert or anything they need to get out, you will find the information there.

They also like to have fun with the signs when we have any kind of holiday. Recently, for Valentine's Day, one of the messages read "Roses are red and so was that light". That made me chuckle.
The Art of the Church Pun: Why Amarillo Signs Stand Out
I like a good sign that makes me laugh. Churches are good about that. It feels like they have the punniest person in town working in that office who comes up with the signs. Kudos to whoever that person is.
Recently, I saw a church sign that made me chuckle. We have seen signs around town that warn us about parking. If you park in the wrong place, we will have a sign there letting us know that we will be towed. Of course, to add insult to injury, it's always at the owner's expense.

We know the warning is there; it exists because someone will inevitably park where they aren't supposed to. Whether they’re in a rush or just frustrated by the lack of nearby spots, people will often take the risk. So they park and hope for the best.

That usually ends in failure and a huge impound fee. Bringing me back to my story about the fun sign at an Amarillo church. As I was driving down 45th near the Amarillo Town Club, that is where I spotted this gem.
Over at the Southwest Church of Christ, their board reads "Church Parking Only, All Others Will Be Baptized." No threat of towing or anything that will cost them an extra fee. Nope, just the promise that they will be welcomed and baptized.
Well played and thanks for the laugh.
