At the beginning of the school year in Amarillo, some students returned to a change on their campus. For a bit of time, the sign on the front of Tascosa High School was missing.

When it came back, it was bigger and better. What was once a smaller sign was something much more prominent. What people also noticed was that the horse was gone.

A lot of businesses and places around town have a horse that they have to support Amarillo's Center City. These horses are painted to show off the personality of the place or business. They become part of the establishment.

A Fragile Move: Why the Tascosa Horse Disappeared

So, early in the school year, when the new sign went up, the missing horse was noticed. That is when we found out it was damaged, but it would be back.

It (the horse) got cracked when we moved it to pave the patio. We moved it inside and plan to get it fixed at some point and put him back out front! - Tascosa High School

The Road to Restoration: Funding the Repair

This was what was said at the beginning of the school year, and they are definitely keeping their word. The horse has been repaired. The work has been done. They are now just waiting on some good weather to make the grand appearance.

What’s Next: Placing the Horse Back at the Front Entrance

The horse is back!!
Big thanks to Mullins, Hoard, and Brown LLP who originally gifted the horse to Tascosa. Unfortunately, after we had the front of the school paved, the horse was damaged so he was moved for a while. Then, our incredible yearbook paid to have him repainted and repaired so HUGE shout-out to them! And then, we handed him over to the incredibly capable and talented hands at Blank Spaces and they have him looking better than ever!
He is inside now but when the weather cooperates, he will be back out front where he belongs!

The horse will be back in its rightful place soon. Brighter and better than before. Keep a lookout for it as you are driving by Tascosa High School.
