Amarillo resident Cameron James Smith recently lived a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

He auditioned for American Idol last year in front of Carrie Underwood, Luke Bryan, and Lionel Richie and earned the coveted Golden Ticket to Hollywood. While his journey hasn't led him to American Idol stardom, it has opened doors and created memories he says he will never forget.

Cameron recently stopped by the studio to talk about the experience, what Hollywood Week was really like, and what comes next.

What was it like in Hollywood?

Smith received his Golden Ticket and advanced to Hollywood Week, one of the most competitive rounds of American Idol. Over 127 people made it to Hollywood, and this year was one of the biggest cuts in Idol history. While he didn't make it through, the experience is something he will carry with him for the rest of his life. He made lifelong friends and opened a few doors for his career.
