Grab a Burger and Help Out an Amarillo PD Officer’s Family After Wife’s Cancer Diagnosis
When someone in your circle needs help, you do all you can to make a difference in that person or family's life. This scenario is happening now with the Amarillo Police Department and one of its officers.
The Amarillo Police Department Benefit Board is coming together to help the family of Casey Matthews. Casey is the wife of Ricky Matthews, an Amarillo PACE officer/SWAT alternate. Casey has been diagnosed with a rare form of breast cancer. The battle she has ahead of her will be long and expensive, and that is why the APD Benefit Board in partnership with the 100 Club of Amarillo, is asking for your help in raising funds for the Matthews family.
They will be hosting a Cookout Fundraiser on Friday, August 25th. The event will be at the Randall County Events Center at 1111 East Loop 335. The cookout will be from 11 am - 2 pm. The cost for lunch is $10. That $10 will get you a hamburger, chips, and a drink. However, your $10 and the $10 of another person who comes to enjoy a burger will add up to help take some of the financial burden off the Matthews family.
Not only will they be serving up some great burgers, but they will also be giving away some great prizes. You can purchase raffle tickets during the event.
This is a perfect opportunity to grab your co-workers and head out to the Randall County Event Center on Friday. Your crew can enjoy a burger and help the Matthews family walk this long, scary road.
If you cannot make it to the event, a Benefit Fund for Casey Matthews has been set up at Amarillo National Bank.
