We Tried Cinergy’s New Gel Blasters And Didn’t Want It to End

Amarillo is home to a great place for entertainment for the whole family. That's Cinergy Entertainment. They have multiple activities for all ages, and they recently added a new fun activity that those over the age of 10 can experience.

This sounded like a ton of fun. I would like to compare this to laser tag on crack; however, it's not laser tag, and there is no crack involved.  So let's just say this isn't your grandma's laser tag, even though she would have a blast.

You enter the Gel Blasters studio, and when you walk in, you are greeted with a smiling Cinergy Staff face. They will then explain the Gel Blasters game and ask if you have the app.  We downloaded the app when we saw the QR code for it while walking through the door at Cinergy. It's a way for you to keep track of all your Gel Blaster games, points, and wins.

How Gel Blasters Are Set Up

Then you pick out your vest.  Once your vest is on, you'll then choose your gun and get your mask.  They will ask your group if you want to do teams or if it's a free-for-all. Our Townsquare Media team all agreed:

You'll then watch a short training video on how to play the game and use the Gel Blaster.  You'll sync up your gun to your vest.  You are reminded to keep your mask on at all times, or you'll be removed from the game until you put it back on.

The fun Cinergy Gel Blaster staff member will scan your app and then take you into the Gel Blasters arena.

Once you're in the arena, the countdown begins, and it’s game on!

Word of warning, you will have a slew of squishy, wet gel balls coming at you from all directions. Most will hit your vest, but be prepared, some will hit you. They aren't painful, but you will feel them, and don't worry about a mess because there isn't any.

Cinergy Gel Blasters Gameplay Tips & Strategy

You have to keep both hands on the Gel Blaster at all times. It's a bit awkward at first, but once you get the hang of it, it's easy.

The goal is to get the most points. Hint: hit the targets, they're worth a ton of points.  Also, be aware that there is a second level, and people can attack from above. Oh, and don't wear a white shirt or bright colors; under the backlights, you are a shining target.

Cinergy Gel Blasters Gear Return & Scoring

Once the game is done, you'll exit the arena, return your vest to the wall, stow your Gel Blaster, and drop your mask in the used-mask tub. You'll then exit the room and see who won your match on their match screen.

It's all about having fun with your friends and family. If you've never tried out a version of Gel Blasters, or even if you have, you need to take the time this summer and try out the new Gel Blasters.  It will be a good time had by all.
