Why One of Canyon Farmers Market’s Best Vendors Won’t Be Back This Season

The Canyon Farmers Market kicks off this weekend for the season. Although they have had a few events outside their regular season, they are getting ready to open for the summer and into fall.

Canyon Farmers Market Opens for Summer 2026

The Canyon Farmers Market has over 100 vendors to shop from, with items from produce to plants, from t-shirts to coffee, and everything in between. Local farmers, homesteaders, and artisans are bringing some of their best products to Canyon Square just for you.

However, one of the most popular vendors from years past will not be returning to the Canyon Farmers Market.

Frontier Market Announces Departure From Canyon Farmers Market

Frontier Market recently posted a video on their Facebook page stating that they would not be returning to the market.

After a lot of thought and prayer, we have decided to not return to the Canyon Farmers Market this season.
We are incredibly thankful for every customer that has supported us throughout the years. We will forever be grateful for that chapter.

Why Frontier Market Is Not Returning This Season

The reasons for not returning are that the Canyon Farmers Market was limiting vendors to only two tent spaces, and if you have ever shopped Frontier Market at the Canyon Farmers Market, they took up way more space than that. In fact, they had their area set up like a mini shop with a trailer.

We realized that with those limitations, we wouldn't be able to serve y'all to our fullest capabilities or to provide y'all with the experience and the product selection that we strive for.

On a personal note, as a regular customer of Frontier Market at the Canyon Farmers Market, I know I will truly miss them being there each Saturday. They have the best hamburger meat and vegetable selection. Every week while buying my 10 lbs of hamburger, I asked when the black-eyed peas would be ready. I will definitely be driving to Plainview to stock up on everything.

We reached out to the Canyon Farmers Market to find out why they decided to limit each vendor to the two spaces. Canyon Farmers Market President Annie Sandifer explained:

A market of our size requires us to ensure fairness and consistency among all vendors while keeping our local Canyon feel. We researched other large markets in the US, including the well-known Santa Fe Market. One consistent element among these markets: booth size limits to give everyone an equal 'playing field' no matter their farm size. We decided to limit our booth size to either 10'x10' or 10'x20'. This creates greater opportunity for more agricultural vendors and greater variety. We want to reach a point where 65% of our vendors are agriculture vendors.

Sandifer said the market will have 22 agriculture vendors this year. Although this is a sad departure for Frontier Market, the Canyon Farmers Market will still be huge and full of amazing vendors ready to show off their products.

Sandifer said all producers at the Canyon Farmers Market will be accepting SNAP benefits.

Canyon Farmers Market Hours and Schedule for 2026

The Canyon Farmers Market will be open Saturdays from 8 am to 12 pm starting June 6 through the end of September. They will also hold additional markets in the fall, around Christmas, and in the spring.

As for Frontier Market, they are located at 518 Ash Street in Plainview, Texas. They are launching a delivery service soon, so you can have their products delivered straight to your door. The Amarillo delivery area includes the zip codes 79106, 79101, 79102, 79104, 79103, 79109, 79110, 79121, 79119, and 79118. Canyon residents can also expect delivery service within the zip code 79015. They will also serve select zip codes in the Lubbock area.
